Understanding the Right to Disconnect and Communication Protocols
As part of recent updates to the Queensland Catholic Education Commission Certified Agreements and broader workplace legislation in Queensland, I’d like to take a moment to explain the Right to Disconnect and how it affects Holy Cross School’s communication practices.
The Right to Disconnect acknowledges the importance of work-life balance for all staff. Similarly, to all places of work across Queensland, teachers and school staff are encouraged to disconnect from digital communications—such as emails, messaging platforms, and apps—outside of work hours, on weekends, and during school holidays, except in exceptional circumstances.
In line with this, Holy Cross School communication protocols have been updated to reflect respectful and reasonable expectations:
